Ari Darmawan Pasek earned his B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from the Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB), Indonesia, in 1986. He obtained his M.Eng. in Cryogenics from the University of Southampton, United Kingdom, in 1987, and his Ph.D. in Cryogenics from the same university in 1992. Ari D. Pasek has been a professor at the Faculty of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering at Bandung Institute of Technology since 2013, teaching refrigeration, AC and cryogenics engineering, as well as heat transfer, thermodynamics, and fluid mechanics. He served as Chairman of the Indonesian Nuclear Society Association (HIMNI) in 1990 and participated in managing postgraduate master's and doctoral programs in Nuclear Engineering from 1990 to 2016. Since 2001, Ari D. Pasek has been an advisor to the National Ozone Unit of the Indonesian Ministry of Environment and Forestry, supporting the implementation of the CFC and HCFC phase-out program in Indonesia. He also served as a member and was the President-Elect of the ASHRAE Indonesia Chapter during 2014-2015. Ari D. Pasek conducted several feasibility studies on Waste-to-Energy Plants (WTE): WTE Bandung (2006), WTE Babakan Ciparay (2007), WTE Jakarta (2016), and WTE Palembang (2016). Additionally, he was involved in studies on co-firing hydrogen fuel with natural gas at Pesanggaran Diesel Power Plant (2022 and 2024), co-firing biomass and coal at Suralaya Steam Power Plant (2023), and Pelabuhan Ratu Steam Power Plant (2023 and 2024).
