Eki Setijadi holds a PhD in Chemical Engineering from the University of New South Wales (UNSW), Australia, and is the co-founder of Jangjo, an end-to-end waste management company based in Jakarta, Indonesia. With a strong academic background in material science and renewable energy, Eki combines scientific expertise with entrepreneurial drive to address one of Indonesia’s most urgent challenges: sustainable waste management.
Currently, Jangjo operates a waste processing facility that handles 50 tonnes of waste per day, sourced mainly from commercial areas and households. Through this facility, the company demonstrates practical solutions for managing mixed waste at scale, proving that landfill dependency can be significantly reduced with the right technology and systems in place.
At the heart of Jangjo’s innovation is the JOWI System, a modular and scalable platform designed to transform waste into valuable resources. This includes recyclables, refuse-derived fuel (RDF), biogas, and pyrolysis oil—products that contribute to the circular economy while providing alternative energy sources.
