Dr.Eng. Firman Bagja Juangsa is an Assistant Professor at Thermal Science and Engineering Research Group, Faculty of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering, Institut Teknologi Bandung (ITB), specializing in thermal sciences, clean energy, and power generation systems. He earned his Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from ITB, and both his Master’s and Doctoral degrees in Mechanical Engineering from the Tokyo Institute of Technology, Japan.
With over 15 years of combined academic and industrial experience—including roles at Toshiba Corporation in Tokyo, Hitachi Asia Indonesia, and research internships at IHI Corporation—Dr. Juangsa brings unique expertise at the intersection of advanced thermofluids, energy system modeling, and sustainable power technologies. His research focuses on hydrogen and ammonia combustion, biomass conversion, carbon capture, and chemical looping processes, contributing to Indonesia’s energy transition and global decarbonization efforts.
He has published more than 70 peer-reviewed papers and book chapters, received multiple international awards, and is a co-inventor on several U.S. and Japanese patents. Actively engaged in national and international collaborations, Dr. Juangsa leads major research projects with PLN, Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, and SATREPS Japan. Beyond research, he contributes to national standardization on hydrogen energy and community programs on renewable technologies in rural Indonesia.
