Associate Professor, ITB

Ir. Hary Devianto, S.T., M.Eng., Ph.D., IPM, ASEAN Eng., is an Associate Professor of Chemical Engineering at Institut Teknologi Bandung (ITB) and Head of the Center for Research on Energy Policy (CREP) ITB. He earned his Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering from Seoul National University, following a Master’s degree from the Asian Institute of Technology and a Bachelor’s degree from ITB.

Dr. Devianto has extensive experience in electrochemical engineering, process safety, and energy innovation. His research focuses strongly on sustainable fuels and energy, including hydrogen and fuel cell technology, carbon capture and utilization, bio-based supercapacitors, and renewable fuels from biomass and palm oil waste. He has led numerous national and international collaborations such as INSPIRASI (Indonesia-NTU Singapore Institute of Research for Sustainability and Innovation), where he works on PEM fuel cells and integrated CCUS systems to support Indonesia’s net-zero ambitions.

In addition, he has been involved in strategic studies and projects on advanced nuclear energy, including the ThorCon Power Indonesia molten salt fuel reactor project, highlighting his commitment to exploring diverse and innovative pathways for clean and sustainable energy. Beyond academia, he contributes as Deputy I of Indonesia Fuel Cell and Hydrogen Energy (IFHE) and as a member of Indonesia’s Hydrogen Technical Commission. He has also served as an expert in various industrial projects involving hydrogen hubs, carbon conversion, and feasibility studies for clean energy systems.

Through his leadership, research, and industry engagement, Dr. Devianto continues to advance the development of sustainable energy technologies, particularly in hydrogen, nuclear, and alternative fuels, strengthening Indonesia’s role in the global energy transition.
